Meebo, a social media company was founded September 2005 to provide communication services via the Web.  Originally a website, Meebo is now a sophisticated IM platform.  Meebo allows real time social interactions through web partner sites as well as group chat and instant messaging capabilities.  Users are able to instantly share content and communicate real-time with their friends.  And, through Meebo, users can access multiple chat clients.

According to Meebo, Meebo’s social media marketing platform allows a higher brand interaction rate than its competitors.  This platform includes video, application, news, games, quizzes, widgets and product showcases.  Meebo touts 10 times greater click rates, with an average of 1:35 seconds spent with the ad content and a 10% share rate of their engagement; important facts for web advertisers.

Since inception in 2005 and launch in 2007, Meebo has introduced a variety of features to make Meebo one of the most frequently used web applications.  Meebo’s product line includes Meebo Rooms, a chat room; Meebo Me, a widget that can be embedded onto any personal webpage; Meebo Community IM; Meebo MediaBar and SparkAds.

Meebo has been awarded Time’s Top 50 Coolest Websites for 2006, and PC World’s The 100 Best Products in 2006 and 2007 and  2008.

Meebo has raised a total of $37.5 million in Series A, B and C Venture Capital Funding.  It’s most recent “Series C” venture capital funding raised $25 M from Jafco Ventures, KTB Ventures, Time Warner Investments, Sequoia Capital and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

According to Meebo, Inc., Meebo generates over 3 million logins per day.   Each month approximately 45 million people share over 5 billion messages across the web. More than 40 partners have integrated Meebo within their websites this year alone.  And, it is estimated that 75 million links are shared monthly through Meebo.

In March 2009, Meebo announced the launch of its ad platform. The ad platform places background advertisements throughout its platform and enables reporting analysis to show sharing and brand use among users.  Additionally, Meebo’s premium ad placement and availability of viral campaigns makes it a plus for ad partners.  With its ad platform, Meebo’s advertising partners can target their ad buys through placement in its content sites, social networks, blogs, entertainment sites and gaming partners.
Meebo recently added partners: CafeMom, Current TB, GGL Global Gaming, Crispy Gamer, DailyStrength.org, Internet Brands and StarPulse.  According to Meebo, more partners are added regularly.

Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Meebo was founded by Sandy Jen, Seth Sternberg and Elaine Wherry.  Mr. Sternberg is also Chief Executive Officer.  All three co-founders are Stanford Alumni with experience in various fields prior to starting Meebo.  Meebo’s Director of Business Development is Stephanie Quay.
