Investors, Globis Capital Partners, Itochu Technology Ventures, Yasuda Enterprise Development, Epic Ventures, and Panasonic Ventures Lead $21 Million in Series C Funding for ZettaCore

Based in Denver, Colorado, ZettaCore announced that it had managed to raise $21 million in series C funding with new investors, Globis Capital Partners, Itochu Technology Ventures, Yasuda Enterprise Development, and Epic Ventures leading the funding. Existing investors also participated in this round of funding. These existing investors include DFJ, Radius Ventures, Oxford Biosciences, and others. ZettaCore, Inc. is a company that develops molecular materials for electronics. The technology that ZettaCore develops can be applicable in various different markets: the molecular interface, energy storage, and memory storage semiconductor industries.

According to Satoshi Kabasawa, Councilor in the Technology Strategy Group of the R&D Corporate Strategy Office of Panasonic, the molecular technology that ZettaCore is developing has the potential to have broad uses throughout the electronics industry. ZettaCore’s technology’s ability to further scale the system level interconnects is very impressive because of its high power density storage for all kinds of electronics and the technology also enables the advancement of Moore’s Law pertaining to semiconductor memory.

Furthermore, Steve Juverston of DFJ stated that the progress of ZettaCore in commercialization of its technologies is very pleasing to DFJ and together with the investments from Panasonic Ventures and several Japanese vc firms is a good validation of the market value of ZettaCore’s technology.

Globis Capital Partners was founded in 1996 and is one of Japan’s top vc firms. Some companies that are in Globis Capital Partners’ portfolio include M2J, Recycle One, byZOO Corporation, LifeNet, MetaCast, AcuteLogic, and others.

Itochu Technology Ventures is a vc firm that likes to invest in companies in the IT industry. Itochu was founded in 1994 and has to this date invested in 70 different companies in the IT industry. Some companies in Itochu’s portfolio include Acopia Networks, Aruba, Azul Systems, ForeScout, Infinera, Lambda Optical Systems, Motion Box, Sling, and others.

Yasuda Enterprise Development is a vc firm that is based in Tokyo, Japan and also has offices in the United States, London and Taiwan. In principal, Yasuda likes to invest in all stages of a company’s life and invests in entrepreneurs who have potential. Yasuda mainly focuses on the IT, Medical Device, and Bio-Tech industries.

Epic Ventures likes to invest in companies who have the potential to be leaders in the marketplace. Epic Ventures is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and was founded by Zions Bank to invest in startups located in the Western United States and are active investors who like to have their partners sit at the board of directors of the companies that Epic Ventures invests in.
